💙 Help Us Heal Sky: A Mother’s Fight at Triple Nickel Pines Alpaca Rescue

If you’ve spent time following our journey here at Triple Nickel Pines Alpaca Rescue, you may have heard of Sky — our quiet, cautious alpaca with the softest eyes and a gentle heart. Sky is one of those animals who teaches you the true meaning of patience. She’s curious, always watching us from a safe distance, but still nervous when we get too close.

We’re not sure what Sky went through before she came to us, but her body carried the evidence of neglect. When she arrived, she was suffering from a severe jaw and dental infection that required ongoing veterinary care. For years, we’ve been treating her infection, managing flare-ups, and doing everything we can to keep her comfortable. Slowly, she began to trust us — allowing gentle touches, standing nearby while we worked, and even humming softly when her daughter, Kristina, was close by. Watching that trust blossom has been one of the most rewarding parts of her rescue journey.

But recently, Sky’s health has taken a turn. She’s become weak, she’s not eating well, and her spark seems to be fading. We’ve been working closely with Crater Animal Clinic to identify what’s happening. She’s on medications and receiving every bit of care possible, but the vet bills are stacking up fast. As a small nonprofit, it’s hard to keep up with such ongoing medical expenses — especially for animals who need long-term treatment and specialized attention like Sky.
